Coffee Size Grading in India
Seeds are classified based on whether they are washed or not.
Washed Arabica seeds are called Plantation Coffees.
Eashed Robusta seeds are called Parchment Coffees.
Naturally processed seeds are called Cherry (Arabica Cherry, Robusta Cherry)
NOTE: Cherry here is the seed, not the coffee fruit.
The size from smallest to largest is: AAA, AA, A, AB, PB (Pea Bean), C
They are also graded based on quality from highest to lowest as:
- Specialty
- Premium
- Exchange
- Miscellaneous
Each of these qualities are differentiated by size grades.
